Academy ‘Mechs are painted a bright yellow when first assigned a pilot. As cadets advance, they are allowed to paint more armor sections of their equipment in black and red, the colors of the Robinson Rangers. To avoid outright confusion with the Rangers, mottled camouflage patterns are banned.
